Project Name: Tai Chi and tea for everybody @ Craigentinny Garden

Description We would like to run an 8 week Tai Chi class at Craigentinny Community Garden. Tai Chi can provide social, physical and mental health benefits and we believe the garden can offer more than just a place to grow plants. The class will run one evening a week for 8 weeks this summer.

Project Name: Just Dance @ Disneyland

Description: We hope to take 20 children from Just Dance College to Disneyland Paris so they can take part in the performing arts programme in February 2025. This trip offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for the dancers. Parents will fundraise for the rest of the required funding.

Description: We would like to apply for funds to two separate 6 week writing groups supported by published authors credited by the Scottish Book Trust. Creative writing groups offer participants to learn new wiriting styles, write short stories and have work critiqued by a professional. They also offer a great social opportunity.

Description: Inspiring people in the community to be brave and more comfortable from within, by trying a refreshing new activity once a month that will leave them feeling more confident, creative and courageous. We will enjoy a playlist of activities set within the backdrop of music, such as the popular silent disco, drama, relaxation and breath work, mindfulness and reflection, inspiring discussions on themed topics, and self-awareness games.
Project Name: Investing in Youth Drama

Description: Our proposal is that the Leith Academy Parent Council provide funds to purchase five wireless head microphones to support drama and school performances. The grant for these microphones would allow for more young people to be confident they are involved in more "professional" drama productions.
Project Name: Lochend Boxing Club - Youth Boxing

Description: We would like to apply for funding to upgrade some equipment at the Lochend Boxing club and get the opportunity to send some of our young boxers to competitions and training camps throughout the UK. We pride on giving opportunities to all ages to improve on confidence and their fitness. The funding will stretch for longer than just a 12 month period.

Project Name: Project Dignity

Description: This project will place 3 boxes containing litter pickers near Lochend Park, Craigentinny Garden and outside of The Ripple Project. Through social media posts and monthly clean ups, this project will encourage locals to take pride of their area and use provided litter pickers to help clean up our streets whenever they see some rubbish.
Project Name: Truth of Nature

Description: A 4-week mini-course on breathwork and guided meditation. This course will improve wellbeing and offer people the skills to continue meditative practises at home. These practises have received scientific support in their ability to reduce stress and calm an over-reactive mind.
Project Name: Botanical Mural

Description: A partnership between The Ripple Project, Craigentinny Primary School, and Olivia Nash – we aim to transform a gated area of Craigentinny Primary’s playground through working with the children to pull together their botanical ideas and spray paint a botanical mural onto the walls which will create calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Project Name: Mindfulness for Wellbeing

Description: Mindfulness is a practice that encourages us to pay kind and non-judgemental attention to what is present here and now. This 8-weeks course offers a great opportunity to explore practically how mindfulness can be used in daily life to improve overall wellbeing, reduce stress and to build personal resilience. No previous experience in mindfulness is needed.

Project Name: Building Bridges

Description: Building on our partnerships with The Ripple Project, we will continue the connections with Edinburgh's diverse communities. We will deliver an intercultural community meal, a cultural awareness evening and a visit to the Sikh temple at Diwali to build stronger relations between the emerging new communities and the more established Scottish Communities.

LCR Stands Up is an opportunity for people to decide, by voting, which local projects should receive some funding through Participatory Budgeting. Everybody aged 8 and above who lives, works, volunteers, or studies in Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny is eligible to vote.
