BRAVE STRONG BEAUTIFUL -
We currently run an employability and leadership training programme for young people aged 15-19, with a keen interest in the hair and beauty industry. We are looking to provide an additional new project working with young people delivering 1-1 mental wellbeing services and development of employability skills. The new project will really focus on providing psychotherapy mental health support through 1-1 counselling and workshops to help young people from the area get work ready. Visit website.

community mural

COMMUNITY MURAL -
As an artist, I certainly know the positive impact of being creative on my mental wellbeing! This is why I would like to put forward 2 weekend workshops, specialising in hand on creative design, stencil making and spray paint can control, with the final outcome being the creation of a mural; designed and made by the local community, for the local community. The end goal will result in a mural visible in the community for years to come.

craigentinny community garden

CRAIGENTINNY COMMUNITY GROWING PROJECT-
Our idea is to provide some permanent seating at Craigentinny Community Garden. Currently the garden does suffer from vandalism and unfortunately have had many things we have left outside stolen or broken. However, we do not let the vandalism deter us and are believers that there are ways and means around this. We now have a portacabin in which we can lock away tools, chairs etc. when not in use, however we would like to be able to leave some seating out so the community can enjoy the garden outside work days when they are locked away. This is why we are hoping we can get a vandal proof picnic table for the garden. Visit Facebook Page.

dj sage

DJ SAGE WALKABOUT
To facilitate a fun and music-filled activity utilising nature and the power of silent disco. The idea involves gathering a group of people together, giving them a headset with music that I control, and taking them on a walking journey around Leith Links and Lochend park, where we will stop every so often and encourage the participants to express themselves through movement, music and song, dancing in the spaces together.

edinburgh community food

EDINBURGH COMMUNITY FOOD -
The project will provide younger people with knowledge, confidence and skills around food, its nutrition and health implications (including the relationships between food and mental health), basic preparation, hygiene and storage. It will also reduce isolation through the development of interpersonal relationships, the improvement of mental wellbeing and the benefits of advocacy and self-efficacy. We propose to support 10 vulnerable young adults aged 16-20 from Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny who are either living independently or with family/carers. We will support their journey into food discovery and how to make informed choices around food. Visit website.

edinburgh north east foodbank

EDINBURGH FOODBANK
The Edinburgh NE Foodbank provides 3- day emergency food parcels, for people in crisis. We would like to expand what we offer and provide a voucher for a nutritious meal and drink to the clients we support, at our centre in St Margaret’s Church, particularly those who have limited cooking facilities and who maybe isolated from others in the community. When clients access their emergency food parcel, they will also be offered a meal voucher for the Ripple Community Café, which they will redeem at the café for a nutritious meal and drink. healing colours

HEALING COLOURS – Healing colours is a group that offers people the chance to relax and explore their inner child. We believe that colour therapy is an effective way of enabling an individual to distinguish the problems they are facing in their own preferred way of communication through art. The group will run every two weeks and will involve relaxation techniques at the start and end of each session.

SHE SCOTLAND AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME -
SHE Scotland in partnership with Circle Scotland and Edinburgh College aims to train 10 local people to become Circle Ambassadors to enhance Circle community programmes throughout Northeast Edinburgh.  The Ambassador programme will provide a safe, supportive and encouraging space to engage local people in specially designed workshops on a variety of issues i.e. volunteering, mental health, aspirations, confidence and self-esteem. Delivering in areas (Craigentinny) where traditionally low aspirations, negative body image and decreasing self-esteem & confidence have impact on the aspirations and confidence on local people. These areas have also some of the highest levels of poverty in Scotland. Visit website.

WELLBEING OPEN DAY
To organise an additional Wellbeing Open day for local people to come along and try out, for free, a variety of treatments, activities and workshops that would support their wellbeing in some way. We currently run one of these a year on a minimal budget and last time around 100 people came along with activities booked all day. We would love to have a bigger budget to expand the range of things available and run these community events twice a year.

LOCHEND FOOTBALL ACADEMY
We would like to provide football coaching sessions for girls and older members (walking football) within the community. Both these initiatives will enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of these groups in an outdoor environment. We believe as we come into Winter months and with restrictions placed on indoor venues, Lochend Football Academy is well placed to offer services which can benefit individuals and groups and support resilience through sport. milan senior welfare

MILAN SENIOR WELFARE
To organise a monthly meet up for our service users and unpaid carers. We would like to provide activities in their local areas/parks to reduce the effects of isolation and enhance their mental health which has been hugely impacted from the pandemic. We would offer a mixture of outdoor activities/sessions and one-to-one support through various venues such as cleaning up our local parks, gardening and discussing safety outdoors. Visit website.

PAVEMENT POWER
A group of volunteers will get together and conduct a fortnightly clean up of litter around the streets in Restalrig and Lochend. We want cleaner and safer streets that we as a community want to be proud of. Seeing cleaner streets will hopefully encourage us all to take better care of our environment.
